History of ASU

The Activist Student Union has a 9 year history of fighting irresponsible corporate behavior. Among our past campaigns and successes:

Made DePaul cancel a contract with Sodexho Marriot, a catering company that was heavily involved in the private prison industry. UVM Sodexho Campaign Site "Food Fight," Village Voice
Made DePaul become a member of the Workers Rights Consortium, an anti-sweatshop monitoring group for Universities. The Workers Rights Consortium
Worked on Campaigns against the war and for fair trade. ANSWER coalition Equal Exchange
Made DePaul cut its contract with Coca-Cola in solidarity with workers in Colombia. Killer Coke
Worked with the DePaul chapter of the National Lawyers Guild to get the Student Bar Association to move its annual spring dance from the Congress Hotel Congress Hotel Strike
Persuaded DePaul to not renew its contract with Russell Athletic, an apparel company engaged in anti-union tactics in Honduras Rein in Russell

"Al Quds Day was established 30 years ago. During the holy month of Ramadan, the last Friday is set aside as Quds Day -- a day in which Muslims and non-Muslims around the world are invited to unite and proclaim support for our oppressed brothers and sisters of Palestine."
