The NorthSide Long March Against Empire, building off of the success of the South Side 17-mile march last March 20th, plans to mirror our South Side comrades' second march with one through working class and poor communities on the North Side that are adversely effected by Empire.
We will have a 14 mile march with rallying points, and we strongly encourage people to join us at those rallying points at the designated times. Our route has taken into account communities which are specifically under attack with the use of mass deportations and detentions, as well as those being torn apart by gentrification. And we will visit a few military installations along the way!
The march will begin at Senn High School, 5900 N Glenwood, at 6am SHARP! We feel it is important to support the victories of the Edgewater community, and to stay with them as they fight reach the homestretch in their struggle to defend their school from becoming a Naval Academy.
Our rallying points with tentative times are as follows:
We will also be making a pitstop at Healing Earth 3111 N. Ashland, which has graciously offered to help out with some water, snacks, tea and coffee. We are also working with Food Not Business to organize some food farther along.
More info will be posted very soon!
We are requesting endorsers. Endorsers fee: some water or food along the route.
We also need volunteers to help flyer the entire march route before March 19. Please help, even if you can't come to the main event.
